A Day in the Life of the Wise Guy

By Ross Thornton, Co-Founder, Wise Guy Team

While the world is still quiet, I crack open a Red Bull and check the final scores from the night before. I do not stress over them and I do not ride the emotional rollercoaster. I play the long game. I check results not for emotion, but to anticipate public overreactions, because sportsbooks shade their lines based on recency bias.

Mornings: Family First, Then the Market

By 8:00 AM my son Kingston runs into my arms. We shoot hoops, toss a football, and eat breakfast. At 9:00 AM it is go time. As the monitors boot up, I read a devotional and scripture. Then it is time to work. From 9:15 to 11:00 AM I analyze the market: software tracking real-time money movement and line shifts, highlighting lopsided games, and tracking what the sharps hit early.

Midday: Stay Sharp

Vegas is not fully awake yet, so I hit the gym. I am a former athlete and current high school coach, and staying sharp physically keeps me sharp mentally. At 2:00 PM I am locked back in, revisiting picks with the latest data.

Afternoon: Finalize and Deliver

Between 2:00 and 3:00 PM I finalize the Official Plays, usually 1 to 5 a day depending on value and what the books need. I bet every single one with my own money. By 3:30 PM clients get their picks with a full recap: yesterday's results, year-to-date stats, thoughts on the market, and a personal note. Discipline, every single day, is the edge.

How many picks does the Wise Guy Team release per day?

Usually 1 to 5 Official Plays a day, depending on value and where the sportsbooks carry liability. Ross bets every one with his own money and clients receive them by mid-afternoon with a full recap.
